Teamwork makes the dream work, which is why we’re excited to announce the addition of another member of the AK team: Staff Accountant Marissa Lingo, who joined us on February 29th. Marissa will be working closely with Staff Accountant Tessa Peterson and Project Coordinator Andrea Neisen, and has already begun contributing to the company’s Accounts Receivable department and adding a boost of energy to the office atmosphere. We asked Marissa a few questions to get to know a little more about the life of our new Staff Accountant.

Q: Where are you from?

Q: What originally interested you in AK Material Handling Systems?
The location! I live two minutes away.
Q: What are some of you hobbies and passions?
Running. Really anything that has to do with fitness I will try. I’m also pretty adventurous. I went skydiving about a year and a half ago and right now I’m in the process of getting my scuba certification.
Q: We heard you are a runner. Can you elaborate?
Of course. I could talk about running all day. I ran my first 1/2 marathon in October of 2012 and ended up finishing much faster than I expected to. After that race, I was hooked, and have been on a mission to qualify for the Boston marathon ever since. I have to run a full marathon in under 03:35:00 to make it there (my personal record is 03:44:16). My next attempt will be at the end of July when I run Jack and Jills downhill marathon in Washington. Wish me luck!
Q: What are you most excited about in 2016?
Finishing my accounting degree and running Jack and Jills.
Q: Did you go to school? If so, where?
Yes, I actually have a degree in fashion merchandising from St. Catherine University and am now finishing up my accounting degree at Metropolitan State. It’s been a long road but I think I finally figured it out.
Q: We have a weekly meeting called Triple Espresso. At the end of the meeting, everyone chooses a bean (coffee bean) for the day/week. It could represent how they feel, what they’re working on, or virtually anything else. What’s your bean?
The bean represents accomplishment. I can’t really live my life without having goals and I’ve been able to reach several over the past few months.
Q: Is there something interesting about you that you probably don’t have in common with anyone else here at AK?
I’ve traveled to some pretty cool places. Venice and Iceland have been my favorite trips so far.
Q: Last but not least, what movie quote comes closest to summarizing your life?
