The Truth Behind Movember at AK

What is Movember you ask? Movember is about bringing back the mustache, having fun, and doing it for a serious cause – men’s health. Mo Bros register, grow a mustache for the 30 days of Movember and become walking, talking billboards for the cause. The mustache is our ribbon, the symbol by which we generate conversations, awareness and raise funds for men’s health. You can learn more about Movember here: www.movember.com Before the month of Movember started we were challenged by one of our manufacturers UNEX Manufacturing of Jackson, NJ to a Movember contest. This contest would be all for charity and to help grow and promote both of our Movember campaigns. We agreed to some basic contest rules and let the party begin. Below are some of the great photos from our campaign. As you can see both companies had a blast sporting the Men’s Health “Ribbon” commonly know as the Mustache all November, raising awareness and funding for Men’s Health. Hitting Close to Home  In September of 2009 Senior Design Specialist Jerry Fredrickson went in for an annual check-up and to his surprise was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Because of the early detection, Jerry was able to receive the proper treatment, and this January he will be 5 Years Cancer FREE!!!!!! So today not only do we celebrate the end of our Movember campaign but we also celebrate with Jerry being 5 years cancer-free! His Movember Advice:  “Make sure to have an annual physical and schedule all recommended follow-up health procedures.” In Summary, yes we were goofy and we went out of our way to get a laugh this Movember but we also had a serious purpose. We know that our efforts made a difference this year for Men’s Health and we hope that we encouraged other businesses to think outside the box and be a difference-maker.
