A frequent question I receive from both existing and new customers is “where do I begin”?
Where to begin whether you are reorganizing your existing facility or moving into a new one due to expansion or consolidation isn’t the easiest question to answer since every business is different. There are (at a minimum) 25 important questions that need to be addressed before deciding on how to layout your warehouse and it’s storage system/s.
You would be surprised on how many people look at their warehouse as a rectangular space that they plan on filling up with racking to hold as much product as possible. So… they place an order, install the racking, fill it up, and then come to realize that the layout was not ideal for their specific business or the throughput has taken a back seat to the idea that maximum quantity stored was more important.
They should have consulted with a Material Handling Specialist or at a minimum had those 25 questions answered prior to laying the facility out.
