Recently a client of mine had a need that I don’t come across very often, they had structural pallet racking and wanted wire mesh decking for their structural beams. They also required these wire decks to have a 4,000lb. capacity due to the heavy pallets that they store. Normally when our clients have a need for pallet rack decking we have no problem satisfying their needs with our in-stock inventory of over 10,000 wire decks but this project was different and it needed to be handled differently because of the high capacity and the style racking. So I got in touch with J&L Wire Cloth, LLC that also happens to be in the Twin Cities. They helped me come up with a solution for my client. We designed custom heavy-duty wire decking that had flare universal channels to rest atop the structural beams because structural beams lack the inside step that standard selective pallet racking beams have. These decks were also able to accommodate the heavier capacity requirement by adding an extra channel and by using a heavier gauge of steel.
In the end, my client was very satisfied with the AK & J&L Wire engineered wire decking that we designed and provided for their pallet rack system.
